About Us

Charissa is a college educated business professional who decided to leave her 10+ year career in Human Resources to pursue her dream career of Interior Design. Growing up in Santiago, Chile, Charissa gained an appreciation for architecture at a young age.  Her passion for interior design was evident early on as she got excited about decorating her room with each of her family’s frequent moves.  However, she did what seemed logical and decided to pursue a a Business degree when she graduated from high school, building her career on her first job as a Bilingual Secretary.  She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Missouri Southern State University while managing an employment agency and later transitioning into an HR Generalist role in TAMKO Building Products' Corporate Human Resources department.  As she approached graduation, she moved to Leggett & Platt's Corporate Human Resources department and worked as an Employment Coordinator for over five years.  In her free time, she watched countless hours of HGTV, leafed through the pages of numerous decorating magazines and books, and decorated for friends and family on the side.  Determined to turn her life-long hobby into a career, she enrolled in the Interior Design program at Pittsburg State University in August of 2007 and attended classes full-time for three semesters while working at the Better Living Store in Joplin.  She poured herself into her studies and became a member of the Phi Upsilon Omicron and Tau Sigma national honor societies.  As a student, she also became involved with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), serving as Vice President of Pittsburg State University’s student chapter of IIDA during the 2008-2009 school year.  By the summer of 2009, she had completed all but two classes required to obtain a second degree in Interior Design so she moved forward with plans to start her own decorating business while taking classes on a part-time basis.  Just before graduating in May 2010, she received national recognition by earning the second place prize in an international student design competition sponsored by the Retail Design Institute.  After having received additional training from the Home Staging Institute and the Staging Diva, she found herself ready to launch her new career.  Her business has grown organically while working other part-time jobs since graduating from college.  After having gained some real life experience in lighting, flooring, kitchen and bath design, she is now focusing her attention on building her business full-time!
